The story revolves around the history of two elven races. The Kindreins(Kin-dray-ins) and the Nyteans(Nite-ay-ins). The Kindrein use magical abilities learned by their ancestors. They use elemental abilities that allow them to defend and heal. Kindrein elves born with the flame spirit can master that element in the art of offense and defense. Those born with a light spirit can master the use of healing. Flame spirited Kindrein often are used to defend their home,Kindreia. Light spirited Kindrein often heal the injured or ill. The same basic rules apply with the Nytean race. Nytean elves use the Shadow element in attacking and Water with healing.The two races are bitter enemies and are constantly at war.

The main character is Solaria, a Kindrein. She is decended from a long bloodline of light spirited Kindrein. The plot begins when Solaria's mother discovers her daughter's unique ability unknown to the Kindrein race. Another main character is Kuzan, a Shadow spirited Nytean. He is a direct decendant of the elf that created his home, Nytea. Also, the same elf that first taught her race how to use shadow and water magic.

Solaria and Kuzan's fates are destined to entwine when a decendant of an enemy who, generations ago, almost destroyed their homes emerges to complete their ancestors' wish.
